Morton's The Steakhouse is a very well known restaurant that specializes, of course, in steak and has opened branches worldwide. It originally started in Chicago and has found its way all across the seas. When my dad learned that there was a Morton's in Hong Kong, we immediately made a reservation online.
Fantastic view of the Hong Kong Harbor. According to our server, you will have an excellent view of Hong Kong's "A Symphony of Lights" and one of the best seats to witness Hong Kong's famed and spectacular New Year's Eve fireworks show.
So there I was, completely in awe with the interior decoration and ambiance of the place. We had an excellent view of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour. Lighting was dim. There was ample space between each table, more than enough to give everyone privacy but at the same time, we could hear the soft chatter and occasional laughter coming from other tables. Wine bottles were displayed all around. But what impressed me the most was our server and the menu presentation. Before giving us the paper menu, our waiter rolled in a cart to show us the ingredients used for the dishes. She memorized the whole menu and described the dishes IN DETAIL (including preparation and origin!) from appetizers all the way to dessert. True, the menu is not long but still, she definitely knew her stuff and was quick to recommend the best from the menu. I guess that it is also why there are many Pinoy waiters. Many of the diners are foreigners so it's a prerequisite that the waiters speak good English since it is part of the routine to present the ingredients / menu verbally before handing the paper menu to the guests.
Baked Five Onion Soup crusted with Swiss Cheese HKD$140 - I found the soup to be VERY filling with the generous toppings of cheese and it was a little salty but nevertheless, I still enjoyed it.
Grilled Jumbo Asparagus HKD$95 - It's fresh and it's good but forgettable.
Chilean Sea Bass with pineapple pepper salsa HKD$410 - A tasty, light, and healthy option for the weight watchers.
Choco Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream - A definite MUST for those with a sweet tooth and for all chocolate lovers.
Eating and dining in Morton's is definitely a wonderful experience. Ambiance is first class. The service is impeccable. The food is delectable. BUT it comes at a very, very steep price as you're paying for the whole package. I have tried better and more reasonably priced steaks but the service in Morton's is definitely in a league of its own. Would I eat here again? Yes but only to let my family also experience eating in Morton's.
*Tip: Stick to the bread but do not finish it and maybe order just 1 side dish to truly appreciate the steak or the other main dishes.
