One thing that I love about Chelsea is the ambiance. My husband said that it reminds him of Dean and Deluca in New York but I can't vouch for him since I have not been to New York in years. It's like a deli / restaurant with shelves of imported merchandise not found in our local supermarkets ranging from various herbs and spices to German beers. And beside these shelves are the tables for the guests. It is quite cramped but that did not stop me from going since I've heard good things about Chelsea.
The waiters first served complimentary focaccia bread with roasted garlic, olive oil, cheese, and vinegar. I absolutely love garlic and this was definitely a different twist for me. I am used to bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and grated Parmesan cheese so I was delighted to see them do something differently with the garlic.

After we were all done and stuffed ourselves silly, we noticed that all the other tables were ordering cheese fondue. Even though we were so full, we had to try it and I' m so glad we did. The cheese fondue was really really good, even better than the fondue I tried in Switzerland. The fondue had a hint of wine but it was not overpowering and the consistency of the cheese was perfect. Even though my brain was screaming, 'Stop! Think of all the calories!,' it was just too tempting and yummy. Besides, it's not everyday that we get to eat good food.
