Cyrstal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao is Here in Manila!

I love anything and everything that reminds me of Hong Kong so imagine my delight when I saw that Crystal Jade is finally here. We did not waste any time and dined there on the opening week (actually, this blog is way overdue...sorry about that). It was quite the wait though, an hour and a half to be exact. However, we didn't mind since it's located in Greenhills and we kept ourselves occupied by window shopping. Since Crystal Jade has been opened for several months now, the hype has died down and waiting is no longer an issue.

Steamed Soupy Pork Dumpling :Xiao Long Bao": PHP158.00 - This is one of their signature dishes. It's very juicy, succulent and full of flavorful meat inside. It's no wonder they named their restaurant after this.

Fried Pancake with Scallion: PHP 98.00 - We ordered this for the kids. We found the serving quite small considering the price. The kids preferred Suzhou's version more.

Radish Pastry: PHP98.00 - I liked the outer pastry. It was very crisp and fluffy. The filling was quite good too.
Sauteed Egg White with Fish Meat and Conpoy: PHP 288.00 - Trying to be the 'healthy eater,' I decided to order this dish. I didn't feel guilty while eating it and it also didn't leave an impression. (Sorry about the picture, the lighting was a little off for this one).

Sauteed Chicken with Cashew Nuts in Spicy Sauce: PHP288.00 (served with pancake) - A little on the salty side but overall, quite tasty and something I would order again. I like how we had to wrap the chicken with the pancake. It's a twist to the Peking duck style.

Noodle With Dried Shrimp and Peanut in Spicy Sauce: PHP 288 - This was my favorite out of all the dishes we tried. I loved how the soup was different and not the usual broth. The peanut flavor was bursting in my mouth and the spiciness of the dish was just right. I suggest you ask the waiter to cut the noodles because it's quite difficult to transfer the long noodles to another bowl in case you're sharing.

I've dined in this restaurant a couple of times already. On my first visit (a week after it opened), I had a splitting headache and I was very thirsty after eating there. I suspected that MSG was the culprit. Considering that it was the opening week and they were obviously still adjusting, I dismissed it. True enough, on my second visit, I left the restaurant feeling quite full and satisfied. With it's very convenient location and their signature "Xiao Long Bao" and Noddles in Peanut Sauce, I'll definitely be dining here again.
