Best Hainanese Chicken in Manila @ Wee Nam Kee!

Wee Nam Kee
Ayala Triangle
Makati Avenue, Makati City, Philippines
Telephone: +632 846-8924

Having lived in Singapore for 2 years, I'm pretty much familiar with the taste of Hainanese chicken and I can definitely and confidently say that the Hainanese chicken of Wee Nam Kee here in Manila is close to the original in Singapore. It's really THAT good. My dad, who lived in Singapore for 6 years, was totally ecstatic to have discovered this restaurant. He can now satisfy his cravings for Hainanese chicken and be 100% satisfied.

Word of caution: The wait is long, really long. Be prepared to wait or try to go early. Also, since it is still on it's soft opening, expect the service to be somewhat mediocre.

Check out the line at the front

Steamed Hainanese Chicken Medium Serving (Half 3-4pax): PHP 488.00

Roasted Hainanese Chicken Small Serving (Quarter 2 pax): PHP 248.00

Sizzling Barbecue Prawns (Sorry,I can't remember the exact name): PHP375.00
This dish is not yet on  the menu but Linfred Yap, one of the partners, highly recommended it. The prawns were sweet and tangy.

Salt and Pepper Squid: PHP 220.00

Salt and Pepper Squid: Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My kids really liked this dish.

Sizzling Hot Plate Beancurd: PHP 225.00
Sizzling Hot Plate Beancurd: Out of all the dishes we ordered, this was my least favorite. It didn't tickle my fancy.

Sambal Kangkong: PHP199.00

Sambal Kangkong: Loved this dish! The chef really captured the taste of the Sambal Kang Kong in Singapore...with a touch of saltiness and spiciness.

BBQ Pork (Asado): PHP 220.00
BBQ Pork (Asado): The asado was very good. The meat was soft and tender and had the right amount of sweetness but the serving was small. They can also imrove on presentation.

I really wanted to try the Cereal Prawns.  Unfortunately, they ran out of oats since it's shipped all the way from Singapore. I also asked if they served Laksa but it's not yet on their menu. Linfred said that many of the customers were looking for Laksa so hopefully, they'll add it to the menu in the near future.

We were really happy with the food. We couldn't help but reminisce about our days back in Singapore. We will definitely be back for more.
